Antiviral Ginger Tea

1 cup (240 ml) water

1 tablespoon (15 ml) fresh, grated ginger

1 teaspoon (5 ml) honey, optional

 

In both Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine, ginger is considered one of the most versatile herbs for treating colds. Scientists have even isolated several chemicals in ginger that may play a role i fighting cold viruses, or rhinoviruses. other compounds in ginger have been shown to help reduce pain and fever, suppress coughing, and provide a mild sedative effect that helps you rest. Bring the water to a boil. Steep the ginger in the water for 10 to 15 minutes. Strain the tea and stir in the honey, if desired, then drink.
