Consume Less Chlorine

Most tap water is contaminated. This is a good thing because chlorine is such an effective germ-killer. Unfortunately, chlorinated water has been linked with some pretty nasty ailments, including cancer of the bladder and rectum.

Bottled or filtered water is getting cheaper all the time, but if you don't want to spring for it, you can dechlorinate your tap water by equipping your kitchen faucet with an activated charcoal water filter. Installing a similar filter on your shower head will minimize amounts of chlorine containing compounds you inhale during those long hot showers. If you do not wish to install separate features on different parts of your home, have a full water filter places on your water home intake.
