Kelp

Large seaweeds. Kelp ash is rich in iodine and alkali. Kelp is an excellent source of minerals from the sea, especially iodine which is very important for the thyroid gland to function properly. The thyroid gland is an important regulator of metabolism and weight and is helped with sea vegetables. In great amount, kelp ash can be used in soap and glass production. Alginate, a kelp-derived carbohydrate, is used to thicken products like ice cream, jelly, salad dressing, and toothpaste, as well as in manufactured goods.
