Hangover Detox

At one time or another some of us may drink more than we should. Drinking has some very uncomfortable side effects. When drinking, your body becomes dehydrated and the livers ability to flush out toxins fast enough becomes hindered. Thus resulting in the headaches, tiredness and nausea. We would like to offer you a guideline that may help you prevent hangovers. However, drinking can be harmful to your health and it is not recommended. This guideline isn't a program that allows people to drink more or in excess. If you feel you have an addiction, seek professional help.

Things you can do before you start Drinking:

Keep fully hydrated. The recommended amount of water you should drink per day is at least 7-8 glasses of water. Becoming dehydrated can cause headaches and muscle aches. See additional information on water and the bodies ability to flush out toxins more readily when hydrated. Find out more on how water helps your body

Being that alcohol is very acidic, it not only imbalances the bodies natural Ph balance, but you also should never drink on an empty stomach. Eating a meal before any type of consumption helps the body to detoxify the toxins better. More about how acid and alkalines affect the body

Take a B-complex vitamin and 1 g of vitamin C, both of which are used up when alcohols being broken down in the body. Vitamins, Vitamins, Vitamins

Things you can do while you are drinking:

A useful technique is to drink a glass of water in between every alcoholic beverage. The dilution of the alcohol will allow the body to better process the toxins in the body.

Drinks that contain bubbles will cause the body to become more intoxicated more quickly. These would be good to avoid: champagne and rum and cokes.

Drink accordingly to your size and weight. Women are less able to break down alcohol then men usually because they are smaller. Women weigh less with less blood to dilute the alcohol, they become intoxicated more rapidly. They also produce less enzymes in their stomachs to break down alcohol, so it¹s more likely to be absorbed in its purest most potent formula, ethano or pure alcohol. Because alcohol is so easily absorbed into womens¹ bloodstreams it goes to their brains more rapidly. So women who consume three or more drinks a day may begin to have health problems that don¹t occur in men until they have nine drinks or more.

Rehydrate. Drinking water with lemon before bed and in the middle of the night if you awake will help balance the acidity in your stomach. More about how acid and alkalines affect the body

Things to do the day after:

Drink plenty of water to rehydrate. Taking one glass of water every half hour will help to flush out toxins and rehydrate. Fresh fruit and vegetable juices help the body to eliminate alcohol as well as supply your body with antioxidants. Fizzy mineral water will help to reoxygenate your blood. Avoid caffeine. Drinks that are more acidic to the stomach will be more diuretic on the system and cause you to be more dehydrated.  More about how acid and alkalines affect the body

We all know that greasy foods taste yummy after a night out on the town, but they are very unhealthy and acidic, which will make your stomach do more churning. Try to eat well balanced meals that will balance the body like rice, vegetables and nuts or try some of our recipes for juicing. Exercise can purge the body of toxins.
