Wheatgrass! What is it?

Wheatgrass is a type of grass that is fast and easy to grow and has a high concentration of nutrients. The best way to absorb the nutrients is by extracting the juice from the grass.

What makes Wheatgrass so nutritious?

Wheatgrass works by supplying vitamins and minerals and cleansing the blood. It is high in vitamins A, C and E. It is also an excellent source of essential B vitamins, which are necessary for normal brain and body development.

Wheatgrass juice also contains many essential minerals : calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, sodium, necessary for healthy bones, teeth, hair and skin.

Wheatgrass juice contains natural enzymes, which help the bodies defense mechanism by strengthening cells. It helps eliminate toxins accumulated from eating processed food, breathing polluted air and drinking impure water. In return removes toxins from the blood.

Wheatgrass also has dilating effect on the blood vessels allowing blood to flow more easily. This improved circulation means valuable nutrients can be distributed more efficiently throughout the body. It also has an effect on red blood cells, whereby it increases the iron content in the blood.

Wheatgrass benefits the body in these ways:

  • neutralizing toxins and carcinogens in the body
  • improving blood sugar disorders
  • helping prevent tooth decay
  • increasing hemoglobin production
  • keeping hair from graying
  • improving digestion
  • reducing high blood pressure
  • aiding in the prevention and curing of cancer
  • cleanses your blood
  • improves skin and hair
  • help the body to build muscle
  • helps strengthen the immune system to help fight infections
  • lowers blood pressure,
  • dissolves tumors
  • acts as an appetite suppressant.

How does it taste?

Like straight grass clippings! Not very tasty. We have found some people may get a little bit of heartburn from a straight shot of it. We have found mixing the wheatgrass into a smoothie or drinking something after you take it is very soothing! There are many forms of wheatgrass in pill form that you may try instead. Check your local specialty health food store. Always try to search for an all organic brand if you have that as an option. The less preservatives and gels added to your wheatgrass the better.

Facts about Wheatgrass

A 2 oz shot of wheatgrass has the same amount of vitamins and minerals as 4 pounds of vegetables.
Seven tablets of Pines Wheat Grass, for example, offer just 7 milligrams of vitamin C (the RDA is 90 milligrams a day).
A good source of digestive and metabolic enzymes
Contains at least 17 amino acids including the 8 essential amines
Contains Indole, one of the cancer-fighting substances found in cabbage and broccoli.
An excellent source of high-quality chlorophyll (the juice is 70% chlorophyll).

What is chlorophyll?

Chlorophyll is the pigment found in the grass, and means ‘leaf green’. This is what gives all green plants both their characteristic colour and their ability to create energy from sunlight, without this exposure, plants are unable to manufacture chlorophyll.
